Mandi Coppess (she/her/hers) has been a Permanency Specialist with Ampersand Families since July, 2018. Mandi has her LSW and before coming to Ampersand, was part of the foster care intervention team through the YMCA. Mandi comes to us as a third culture kid who spent most of her formative years in Eastern Europe. She has personal experience in navigating and identifying with a myriad of cultures. She initially moved back to the United States as a foreign exchange student and eventually found her way to Minnesota in 2013.
Mandi is honored to be part of a team that is unified in our passion to connect youth to permanency and stability as well as fight anti-racism and strive to be part of making our child welfare system more equitable. Mandi is inspired by those who take up space in the world and desires to bring self-empowerment and restore a sense of dignity to youth who are lacking the support and confidence to define and live as their truest selves. Mandi enjoys laughing, spur of the moment adventures and a strong cup of black coffee.
The mission of Ampersand Families is to provide permanency and adoption services to older youth and families who face barriers to equity in child welfare, and to champion systemic changes that advance belonging, dignity and hope.
