Linda joined the Ampersand Families Board because she believes that every child deserves a permanent, loving family. As the past Executive Director of Children’s Law Center of Minnesota, an organization dedicated to fighting for the rights and interests of children and youth in the Minnesota Child Protection system, she saw firsthand what happens to foster children who get lost in the system and age out without connections to permanent families.
Linda started her career as a lawyer with Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, specializing in commercial law and litigation. She represented large companies in a wide variety of legal matters ranging from intellectual property to antitrust to securities matters. She spent her “spare” time volunteering with a number of community organizations, teaching English as a second language to recent immigrants, and working on women’s human rights projects with the Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights.
Linda also has worked as a human rights consultant with the International Women’s Rights Action Watch at the University of Minnesota and for World Vision. She has sat on the Boards of Directors for The Bridge for Youth, a youth homeless shelter in Minneapolis; the Institute for New Americans that operates an adult ESL program and alternative high school for recent immigrants; The Advocates for Human Rights; and The Foundation for the Legal Aid Society.
Linda has a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish and a Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University and a M.A. in International Trade Law and Economics from the University of Bern, Switzerland.
