Teiana is honored to be a part of Ampersand Families! She received her BA in Race & Ethnic Studies and Religion, along with a concentration in Education at St. Olaf College. Teiana spent much of her undergrad working and volunteering in classrooms with youth of all ages and backgrounds. She also has experience interning as a case manager working with mostly immigrant Minnesotans on job search and application. She comes to Ampersand after working as a foreign language English teacher at an elementary school in Taiwan in 2019.
Teiana is excited by Ampersand’s work of creating permanency for youth in Minnesota. She believes in the importance of youth having a say in making decisions about their own lives, and values Ampersand’s commitment to ensuring that youth can maintain connection to their birth culture throughout permanency. Teiana feels very lucky to be a part of this process through her work with the Heart Gallery.
In her free time, Teiana loves singing, playing the cello, trying new recipes to cook and bake for family and friends, spending time with loved ones, and working with birthing individuals and families as a birth and postpartum doula.
The mission of Ampersand Families is to provide permanency and adoption services to older youth and families who face barriers to equity in child welfare, and to champion systemic changes that advance belonging, dignity and hope.
