Sami Schneider, (she/her) – Family Support and Education Specialist
Sami joined Ampersand Families as a Family Support and Education Specialist in May 2021. She is passionate about working with parents and families and honored to join the Ampersand Families team.
Sami earned her BS in Early Childhood Special Education, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she worked with children in day cares, and in low-income housing centers. She also spent many years working as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) for children with disabilities. Sami has always been passionate about working with youth.
After two rewarding years of working as a Special Education teacher, Sami graduated with a Master of Education in Parent and Family Education from the University of Minnesota in the spring of 2021. She is a licensed Parent and Family Educator in the state of Minnesota, and previously worked as a Parent Educator in Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes. She believes that the key to teaching youth is teaching the whole family. Sami is currently very involved with Special Olympics Minnesota, acting as a member of the Young Professionals Board. She loves the mission of Special Olympics MN and has so much fun hosting and attending the sporting events with all the athletes. Throughout Sami’s work with children, families, individuals with disabilities, and individuals facing adversity, she has solidified her passion for supporting and serving others.
In Sami’s spare time, she loves playing board games, card games (especially cribbage and UNO), and going on walks. When the Minnesota weather cooperates, Sami will most likely be sitting on a patio with her family and friends. Sami is thrilled to be a part of the Ampersand Families team, and looks forward to meeting the families, children, and buddy families at fun events throughout the year.
