Mandee joined Ampersand Families in early 2022 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from St. Catherine University. Mandee is a licensed social worker with the state of Minnesota and has been supporting families involved in the child welfare system both at the county and non-profit, community level, and in urban and rural settings
Mandee is Hmong-American and the daughter of refugees. The lived experience of growing up speaking two languages, translating as a child for her elders, and navigating racism as a person of color, informs her work. She is committed to be a voice for marginalized groups and a cheerleader for all caregivers. In her personal time, Mandee enjoys napping, photography, and reading. She lives in the central region of Minnesota with her partner and their three children ranging from teen to elementary school age.
She believes that all youth do better when the adults around them feel heard and supported. After over ten years as a social worker working with parents, Mandee is proud to help Ampersand Families continue the mission to provide each child with a safe and loving, permanent family.
The mission of Ampersand Families is to provide permanency and adoption services to older youth and families who face barriers to equity in child welfare, and to champion systemic changes that advance belonging, dignity and hope.
