Meet Sage

Sage (she/her) is 15 and describes herself as “goofy, passionate, determined, and caring.” Others describe Sage as, outgoing, very kind, and a youth who is “very nice and has a good heart.” Sage enjoys a balance of time to herself and with others. She is a very talented artist and likes to draw, especially human faces and poetry. When she has the chance, she  also enjoys going to the movies and out to eat. Some of Sage’s favorite foods include Mexican food, McDonalds, and spaghetti. Sage likes to listen to rap and R&B. If she could see anyone in concert she would want to see Lil Druk, Lil Baby, and Juicy. She also enjoys listening to Tupac!

A Family for Sage

When Sage thinks of adoption, she envisions a family that has two parents who are not judgmental, and who are respectful, and not strict. To Sage, strict means, “strict on the rules, like I have to listen to this type of music and I can’t listen to other types of music.” Sage voiced she wants at least one parent to be Black so “I can relate to them” Sage’s permanency team is open to families of any race or ethnicity as long as they are  affirming and supportive of both Sage’s racial identity development and her bisexuality. Sage would be fine with other kids in the home however did not voice a strong preference either way. Sage prefers to be in an area that has racial diversity but does not want to live in St. Cloud, or Minneapolis. Her team is in support of looking for families outside of these cities. Sage and her team are also looking for a family who is committed to keeping her connected to her birth family members.

Our Vision

That every young person whose life has been disrupted by trauma and subsequent child welfare intervention will be restored to a safe, permanent family with an urgency that honors the brevity of childhood.
