Matthew (Lamont) is an intelligent teenager who has a great sense of humor! He loves being social, talking with new people, and is able to hold a conversation with ANYONE! Matthew has the type of personality that is like a magnet. He can enter a room of all new people and by the time he is leaving, he knows everyone there! Matthew has explored many interests in his 16 years such as basketball, football, running, singing, and acting! Currently, he loves to play basketball and hopes to play basketball and run track on his school team. Matthew can seem wise beyond his years at times but he still wants people to remember he is a teenager. He is a strong advocate for himself and is honest as well. Matthew has many people in his life that care deeply about him and one of these people shared, “Lamont has all the qualities it takes to be a successful person!” He hopes to go to college and become an athletic trainer and/or physical therapist in the future! Matthew has many close friends and chosen family that he would like to stay connected with in the metro area.
A Family for Matthew
The right family for Matthew would be patient, flexible, and supportive of his enormous talent and interests. He needs a family that will remain unconditionally committed to him. Matthew has voiced that he needs to feel like the adults in his life have realistic expectations of him. He feels he needs the chance to make mistakes as that is how he states he learns best. Matthew states respect is important to him. Matthew has many important people in his life that he would like to remain connected with following adoption. Matthew enjoys animals and would like to have a pet one day, however that is not a deal breaker for him. He would also like to be able to attend church.
That every young person whose life has been disrupted by trauma and subsequent child welfare intervention will be restored to a safe, permanent family with an urgency that honors the brevity of childhood.
