Nickolas (Nick) is described as a “quirky kid” by his workers. He is laidback, outgoing, and loves being the funny guy of the group. Nick identifies as a “shoe guy,” ready to show off his collection to those interested in seeing it. Nick loves to be active by playing various sports such as football, baseball, and basketball outside. He also enjoys attending sporting events but is not the biggest fan of watching them on TV. Nick is an outdoor enthusiast! Whether it be riding his bike, going camping, or catching northern pike, he is ALL for being outside. Although Nick loves being outside, his true passion is playing video games or card games like Magic the Gathering. Nick is personable and likes to be helpful by assisting with tasks around the house.
When asked what his ideal family would look like, he stated, “weird but fun” which goes with his quirky nature. A family who is the right fit for Nickolas would be able to meet him with patience and assistance in his growth in healthy coping skills. They would also have patience and understanding in guiding him with verbal social skills. It would be best for Nickolas to be either the youngest child in the home or the only child. Nick would benefit from having a strong male in the home. Following adoption, Nick would need to maintain contact with his sister and grandmother. Nickolas has a big love for cats and would love for his future family to have one or even two.
That every young person whose life has been disrupted by trauma and subsequent child welfare intervention will be restored to a safe, permanent family with an urgency that honors the brevity of childhood.
