Nick is funny, adaptable, resilient, and determined. He describes himself as compassionate, friendly, and loyal, and he relates well to others who use humor and can appreciate his sense of humor, even if it at times it walks the edge of what is appropriate for the situation. Nick is 16 years old, and the second oldest in a family of four boys. He is well-liked by his teachers and they describe him as the “class clown.” He is very empathetic and helpful, and goes out of his way to befriend “nerds” and others who are rejected by their peers. His favorite subject in school is math because new content builds off of concepts taught before, and he is interested in a career that involves the military or SWAT teams because “you need to be good at reading people,” which is an area Nick excels. Nick is also creative and enjoys drawing, sketching, and coloring very detailed pictures with colored pencils. He has varied interests, including swimming, video games, reading about mythology, and learning about mythological creatures and animals.
A FAMILY FOR NICK
Nick is nervous and goes back and forth on how he feels about adoption. When asked what he wants in a family, he states “I need a loving and caring family.” Additionally, a family for Nick will need to support him with maintaining and building his relationship with his three brothers, including family therapy and frequent visits and contact if the boys are not adopted together. Nick enjoys farming activities, such as bonfires and baling hay, and would enjoy a family that has some land. He would also do well with pets. Nick enjoys being active and wants a family that will let him be a regular teen with some freedom and independence.
