Meet Vinny (15)
Vinny is both polite and easy to engage in a conversation. Vinny wants to do the right thing, and values being honest above what others may think about him. He loves to reminisce about the high points in his life, and tells stories with a refreshing sense of candor. Vinny is a “people person,” but he will find time to unwind on his own by watching a scary movie, playing video games, or going for a walk to the park. He enjoys the social aspect of school and is well liked by his peers. Vinny also has a passion for sports particularly baseball, football, and basketball and he has played on a number teams. He also likes to follow sports and claims to be a huge Detroit Tigers fan and he can often be seen sporting Minnesota Wild gear. Lastly, Vinny loves to sing and he’s a member of his school’s choir.
A Family for Vinny
The right family for Vinny would need to be active and engage him in fun activities often. When asked what he would like to do during family time, Vinny said, “oh, just having all of us sit together on the couch to watch a movie.” It is clearly more important to Vinny who he is with than what he is doing. Although, he would jump at the chance to play catch or watch a sports game. Family time need not be fancy, but should facilitate deeper connections. A family that identified as Catholic would match best with his religious commitments, but he would be willing to integrate into a family that attended church regularly. He loves the idea of being part of a larger family, and would be happy to have older siblings. His family would need to work with him to set clear and simple boundaries while being patient. Vinny is open to the idea of living anywhere in Minnesota.
