He worked for a Michigan State Senator post-graduation and served as the Interim Director for the constituent services office. Most recently, Alex worked as a paralegal for the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center in Detroit. He has been a panelist for the New Detroit Multicultural Leadership Series which provides cultural humility training to many professionals from many different backgrounds. Additionally, he co-facilitated a course titled “Latino contributions to the Labor Movement” at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
During his free time you can either find Alex at a lake fishing or at the gym. He is also a big writer and is currently writing a memoir!
Alex worked exclusively in the unaccompanied children program during his time at the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center and it motivated him to pursue opportunities where he could continue to make a positive difference for children and families. Alex also brings 2 years of experience being a volunteer tutor and youth mentor for BIPOC youth during his time as a student. Equity, justice, and compassion are some of his strongest values, and they motivate him to deliver the most adequate service to those in need of support.
