Meet Nico Garcia Lisle
Vice Chair
Nico (he/him) is inspired by Ampersand Families' commitment to provide permanency and adoption service that are "equitable, compassionate, and just."
More About Nico Garcia Lisle
Nico is on the Board at Ampersand Families “because of its dignifying and equitable approach to adoption services.” He believes Ampersand Families “amplifies the youth voice and values youth interests and situational circumstances to provide permanency and adoption services that are more equitable, compassionate, and just.”
By day, Nico is an attorney with Flaherty & Hood, P.A. where he regularly advises on labor relations, employment laws, and pay equity. He obtained his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at Illinois Tech, and his B.A. in Nonprofit-NGO Studies from Northern Illinois University. (Go Huskies!) Before moving to Minnesota, Nico worked for the City of St. Charles, IL in human resources (igniting his passion for workplace law); and, through NIU’s Nonprofit Center, he externed with the DeKalb County Youth Services Bureau (igniting his appreciation for youth-oriented services focused on equity and compassion).
Outside of work, Nico loves to spend quality time with his wife Alexandra, fur babies Pepe and Jefe, and friends and family. He is passionate about volunteerism and strives to incorporate his HR and nonprofit background into his role to help Ampersand Families achieve excellence in governance, equity, and ultimately, public service.
