Lucy Augustine

Lucy joined Ampersand Families in May 2021 and was promoted to Senior Permanency Specialist in July 2022. Lucy has been working in the human service field for 30 years.   Working in the past as a head start/early head start family services supervisor, facilitating parenting groups, training foster parents trauma based care, trained in Positive Indian Parenting, RentWise, Love and Logic.  She also earned her  Permanency and Adoption Competency Certificate in May of 2023.  She was also a licensed foster parent with St. Louis County for seven years.  Born and raised in Duluth/Cloquet area and also worked with head starts in North Carolina and Virginia and also licensing therapeutic foster parents in Virginia.

In her spare time Lucy loves to learn about culture, religion and language.    Along with a good farmers market she looks for festivals and events to explore with her daughter.  They also spend a great deal of time decorating and redecorating their home in East Side with their four feline fur babies.

Lucy is passionate about working with families holistically and all extensions of that family system. She advocates for people who can be seen as the underdog and works to motivate others to be the change they want to see in the world. She encourages others to use their barriers as motivation. Lucy feels privileged to serve the families and relative kin she does with all of their intricacies and challenges. Family connection in any way or shape is invaluable.
